As I started my run today, I had a talk with myself. When I had set out, I was running fairly fast... but I wasn't able to sustain that speed, not even close. I also (like on Sunday) hadn't been able to finish my run out fully. So, I decided that I would take it a bit easier and try to run the whole time.
Well, this week, this is what my workout looks like:
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then do two repetitions of the following:
- Jog 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
- Walk 200 yards (or 90 seconds)
- Jog 400 yards (or 3 minutes)
- Walk 400 yards (or three minutes)
Yesterday for the push up challenge, I had 4 sets of 2 (real) push ups with 60 seconds between sets and then maxing out. I still am shocked how weak my core is. I may need to supplement with some additional core exercises.

One thing that you'll discover as you go throughout the C25K is the power of pacing. When I started the program I had the same trouble you did, I went too hard early and then was gassing near the end. Don't be afraid to push yourself, but trust your gut.
That is something I really need to work on. I'm coming to accept the fact that I'm a lot more out of shape than I thought I was and that this is going to take a LOT of work. I'd let myself believe that I'd be able to pick up where I left off when my basketball career was over, but my metabolism wasn't working for me and I ballooned up 60 pounds. I still am having trouble coming to terms with the fact that this is true... I mean, I'm the same me, I'm just a bit bigger. Well... my "bit" is more than I originally thought!
